CHESS SCHOOL - BEGINNER PROGRAM
Brief Description:
This program is designed for all children who want to get to know chess and for those who already play it. Prior chess knowledge is not a prerequisite for enrolling in the school; the most important factor is a love for chess!
In the introductory program, we awaken a love for chess in students through games and stories, enriching them by discovering the endless dimensions and beauties of this magical game on 64 black-and-white squares, and, most importantly, laying down solid chess foundations. We introduce students to basic chess rules, initial setup, naming and movement of pieces, and understanding their values. They also learn about basic checkmating patterns, checkmating with major pieces, and special moves like castling, pawn promotion, and en passant. Students become familiar with basic combinational elements such as pins, double attacks, discovered attacks, discovered checks, etc., which also lead them into chess play with the aim of gaining a material advantage or checkmating the opponent's king. Through homework, including chess diagrams, they reinforce the acquired knowledge at home. We teach them appropriate behavior at the chessboard, and by playing chess games with other children, they build a healthy and respectful relationship with others. We encourage students to develop self-confidence and a sense of self-worth and success, which positively influences and inspires other areas (academic and life skills) as well.
